For this new-build home in Junction, the landscape offered an opportunity to extend the character of the residence into the surrounding property.

Terra Works developed the landscape design and constructed custom mortared planting beds around the home and throughout the property, using hardscape to create definition, structure, and a stronger relationship between the architecture and landscape.

the challenge

A newly completed home can feel visually disconnected from the surrounding land until the landscape begins to establish scale, structure, and transition.

For this property, the objective was to create a landscape that felt considered as part of the home, not simply added after construction.

our approach

We approached the landscape design by establishing the overall organization of the outdoor areas, while custom mortared planting beds introduced permanent structure around the residence.

Rather than treating the stonework as a decorative addition, the hardscape became part of the framework of the landscape, defining planting areas and helping visually connect the home to its surroundings.

the result

The completed landscape gives the new home a stronger sense of place.
